Who we are
The PEULA Association was founded in May 2011 by Eli Sharoni, Ronny Eliyahu and Tal Filberg to help “open the hearts” of the general public to the needs of blind and partially-sighted people.
We have extended our services to include leisure activities such as tandem bike-riding and cookery workshops. We have also initiated a special project in schools, where blind and partially-sighted people are trained to speak in public and tell their personal stories.
The success of these initiatives has enabled us to expand the range of the services we offer to more people of different ages and from different regions.
We are an independent charity operating in accordance with the code of conduct of the Israeli Registrar of Non-Profit Organizations, with no political or other affiliations and are fully transparent in the way we run our services.
Looking ahead to the future
To date, blind and partially-sighted lecturers have given talks in schools, hi-tech companies and Israel Defense Forces bases throughout the country.
PEULA has also initiated training of blind people as holistic healers (in a government–funded course at the Wingate Sports Institute), arranged sport and leisure activities and supported the development of technological accessories for partially-sighted schoolchildren and students.
At the heart of our mission is the desire to reach more people with vision loss. To this end, we continue to appeal for donations and encourage both adults and youth willing to commit to join our volunteer team.
